Built in 1997, Rio Secco has been one of the most popular golf courses in Las Vegas for more than 20 years.
The Rio Secco Golf Course sits in the foothills of the mountains of Las Vegas. Designed by Reed Jones, it runs through deep canyons and desert washes, and lingers on high plateaus, giving it an exemplary view of the city at its feet.
Reed Jones, often referred to as the “open doctor”, for his talent for refining and tweaking the finest courses, returned in 2017, 20 years after the course opened, to revamp it a bit. So, whether you’re a newbie or a pro, this is the course for everyone from less experienced players to the seasoned golfer, while still maintaining the challenges. Of course, there are other facilities at the club as well. Janella’s restaurant and bar sit at the heart of the 36,000 square foot clubhouse, with a full menu of both drinks and delicacies, comfortable seating, and a cozy atmosphere. There are several facilities for private events, both large and small. And we can’t forget that Golf Digest’s number one instructor Butch Harmon’s school is based at Rio Secco Golf Club, serving pros and amateurs alike.

I recently played at Rio Secco Golf Club and it definitely exceeded my expectations. The fairways were impeccably maintained and lush, and the greens were in excellent condition. The scenery around the course and views of the city were breathtaking. The staff were all very welcoming and accommodating. Additionally, the food at the clubhouse was delicious. Overall, I highly recommend Rio Secco Golf Club for a memorable golfing experience in Las Vegas.

What I Disliked
I would not recommend Rio Secco Golf Club. The design of the course was not to my liking and I found it to be quite pricey. I usually enjoy walking and carrying my own bag when I play golf, but Rio Secco was not conducive to this. Despite having a golf cart that day, I found the distances to the tees, greens, and fairways to be long, hilly, and sometimes over pebbles, making it uncomfortable. The course did not have a good flow and I was surprised that the fairways were not mowed. Overall, I do not plan on returning to Rio Secco Golf Club.

My first experience playing golf in the USA was at Rio Secco Golf Club and it did not disappoint. The staff at the pro shop were incredibly helpful and the facilities were immaculate. I was able to easily pick up a rental set of clubs and head to the grass and sand driving range, where balls were plentiful and a halfway house offered snacks and drinks. The course itself was in excellent condition and provided a challenging test for players of all skill levels. The greenkeeping staff were friendly and the surrounding views were breathtaking. The pro shop had a wide variety of golf merchandise available, including apparel, clubs, shoes, and accessories. I can't forget to mention the friendly and helpful staff working in the shop, who even gave me and my companion a free drink token for the restaurant. Overall, I highly recommend Rio Secco Golf Club for a memorable golfing experience.

Rio Secco Golf Club in Las Vegas is often compared to a mini Wolf Creek, offering a challenging course. The conditions were excellent during my visit and among the best in Vegas. The greens were fast and rolled true, making it necessary to use the practice green wisely before the round. The staff members, including John at the pro shop, Erik at the range, and Doug at the bag drop, were all friendly and helpful, adding to the overall experience at this perfect Vegas getaway.

What I Disliked
I would not recommend Rio Secco Golf Club. The course design did not impress me and the prices were quite high. I usually prefer walking and carrying my bag when I play golf, but Rio Secco was awkward and uncomfortable for me. Despite having a golf cart that day, getting to the tees, greens, and fairways involved a long, hilly trek over pebbles which made it more challenging. The layout of the course felt disjointed and I was surprised by the unkempt fairways. Overall, I was disappointed with my experience at Rio Secco and do not plan on returning.

This was my first time playing at Rio Secco Golf Club and it was truly a remarkable experience. The staff in the pro shop were extremely helpful and the course was in impeccable condition. I appreciated the convenience of picking up a rental set of clubs outside the clubhouse, near the golf carts, and the grass and sand driving range was fantastic. The availability of balls on the range, as well as the nearby halfway house for snacks and drinks, made for a great experience. As a 13 handicapper playing from the white tees, I found the course to be a challenging test of my skills. The greenkeeping staff were friendly and the surrounding views were breathtaking. The pro shop offered a wide selection of golf-related items, from apparel to accessories. The two guys working in the shop, Joe and Chase, were friendly and helpful, even providing a free drink token for the restaurant. Overall, I highly recommend Rio Secco Golf Club for an enjoyable and memorable golfing experience.
