About Luxor Hotel & Casino

Luxor occupies the south Strip at 3900 South Las Vegas Boulevard, between Excalibur and Mandalay Bay and near Allegiant Stadium. Its black-glass pyramid and sky beam remain among the city's most recognizable sights. Indoor walkways and a free tram connect the surrounding MGM resorts, while the Deuce bus and rideshare make it easier to reach the central Strip; walking north is possible, but distances become tiring in hot weather.

Guests choose between the classic Pyramid and two conventional hotel towers. Pyramid rooms are about 420 square feet and deliver the most distinctive experience, with slanted walls, angled windows, and inclinator elevators, but their unusual layout and older bones are not for everyone. Tower rooms are roughly 449 square feet with a more conventional shape and generally make the better choice for travelers who prioritize comfort and predictability. Standard rooms lack coffee makers and microwaves, and refrigerators may carry an extra charge.

Luxor's Oasis Pool area has two large seasonal pools, loungers, daybeds, and cabanas. It is a solid place to cool off but is simpler than the destination pool complexes at Mandalay Bay or MGM Grand. The resort also has Nurture Spa & Salon and a fitness facility, while guests should budget for the standard MGM resort fee and parking charges.

The casino covers about 120,000 square feet and offers slots, table games, high-limit play, and a BetMGM sportsbook. Entertainment is a major strength: current offerings include Blue Man Group, Carrot Top, FANTASY, Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition, Bodies... The Exhibition, Discovering King Tut's Tomb, and PLAY Playground. Dining ranges from quick meals to sit-down restaurants, and additional choices are available through the connected resorts.

Luxor is best for first-time visitors, families with older children, event-goers, and value seekers who enjoy a strong theme and want entertainment in the building. It is less suitable for luxury travelers, guests who dislike large smoky casinos, or anyone expecting every room to feel recently built. Comparing a Pyramid room with a Tower room before booking is worthwhile.

Best For

  • Travelers who want a base in the Las Vegas Strip resort corridor

  • Guests who expect to schedule meaningful pool or spa time at the hotel
  • Guests who enjoy the energy and convenience of a casino hotel

Consider The Tradeoffs

  • A Strip address can still involve long walks through large resorts, bridges, and indoor corridors
  • Resort fees, parking charges, deposits, and amenity schedules can change; compare the final checkout total for the exact dates
  • Lower rates may come with simpler rooms, fewer on-site amenities, or a less convenient tourist location
  • Casino activity, smoking areas, nightlife, and busy public spaces may not suit travelers seeking a quiet retreat

Location and getting around

Rooms and what to book

Guests choose between the classic Pyramid and two conventional hotel towers. Pyramid rooms are about 420 square feet and deliver the most distinctive experience, with slanted walls, angled windows, and inclinator elevators, but their unusual layout and older bones are not for everyone. Tower rooms are roughly 449 square feet with a more conventional shape and generally make the better choice for travelers who prioritize comfort and predictability. Pool, dining, and on-site amenities

The candid bottom line

The casino covers about 120,000 square feet and offers slots, table games, high-limit play, and a BetMGM sportsbook. Entertainment is a major strength: current offerings include Blue Man Group, Carrot Top, FANTASY, Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition, Bodies... It is less suitable for luxury travelers, guests who dislike large smoky casinos, or anyone expecting every room to feel recently built. Comparing a Pyramid room with a Tower room before booking is worthwhile.

Compare Pyramid and Tower rooms by category

Choose Luxor for its theme, entertainment and potential value, then compare the actual room category. The official room list gives Pyramid Premier rooms 420 square feet and Tower Premier rooms 449 square feet. The Premier King categories allow up to three guests, while Premier Two Queen categories allow up to four. Tower Elite King is a different product: its published maximum is two guests despite a similar floor area. An upgrade name alone does not establish a better fit for your group. For a couple using the room mainly between shows, compare the total stay price before paying for extra space. For friends sharing, bedding and permitted occupancy matter more than a small difference in square footage. Book any required accessible features explicitly and confirm the route to your show venue. Luxor’s attractions and performances are separate plans from the room reservation; allow time for dinner, ticket collection and finding the correct theater inside the pyramid.

Just finished my stay at the Luxor in Las Vegas. I've always been fascinated by its impressive exterior and the stunning lobby you see when you walk in. My main issue was with the elevators. Staying on the sixteenth floor, we often found that the elevators would bypass our floor, going up to the twentieth, requiring us to come back down. The panels inside the elevators were also coming loose, which was the case for all four of them. The room was very nice, though natural light was limited due to the building's design, which was expected but not something I realized initially. There are plenty of dining options and activities available within the hotel, and I spent a significant amount of time in the casino. The hotel lobby staff were outstanding, accommodating an early check-in and late checkout at no extra cost. It's important to note that the hotel is towards the end of the Strip, so expect a bit of a walk to the main attractions. Overall, I had a wonderful stay!

The hotel feels outdated, with a noticeable musty scent in the air and carpets that seem to have been cleaned but not properly dried. The King room offers ample space, but its design is impractical—the TV is positioned awkwardly, viewable only from the bed unless rearranged. Checking in was a prolonged process. Throughout my stay, no face cloths were provided. When I inquired with housekeeping, they suggested contacting the front desk, but I ended up waiting on hold for quite a while. Instead, I was left with an abundance of large bath towels. The room's decor is rather dated, absent of amenities like a microwave, coffee maker, or mini fridge. Additionally, the ice machine on my floor was out of order. The room's temperature control only seemed to swing between too cold or too warm. On the plus side, the bed was spotless and very comfortable. Unfortunately, I won't be staying here again.

The Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas offers a stunning atmosphere and enjoyable gaming options, but the dining experience left much to be desired. The breakfast buffet came with a steep price tag of $100, yet the food was cold and mediocre. After a long day, the lack of hot water in the shower was disappointing, as a warm shower would have been perfect. The TV had its issues, though the Fantasy show was a highlight. If firm pillows are your preference, consider bringing your own. Should there be a return trip, a different accommodation will likely be chosen. Note that the room lacked a refrigerator and a coffee machine.
