About OYO Hotel and Casino Las Vegas

OYO Hotel and Casino Las Vegas is at 115 East Tropicana Avenue, just east of Las Vegas Boulevard and across the intersection from MGM Grand. The airport, monorail, T-Mobile Arena, and south-Strip resorts are nearby, but the busy Tropicana crossing and wide roads make walking less pleasant than the map suggests. Rideshare is sensible at night or in extreme heat.

The former Hooters Casino Hotel has 350- to 370-square-foot rooms in standard, premium, pool-view, and Strip-view categories, including some smoking rooms. Premium categories add conveniences such as a refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker. The property is aging and should be booked for price and location rather than expecting the finish or service of a newer resort.

Two seasonal outdoor pools have loungers, games, a large video screen, and the Splash Cantina. This can be fun for an inexpensive afternoon, but the pool area is much smaller and more basic than the destination complexes at neighboring MGM resorts. Guests should confirm operating dates because outdoor facilities can close seasonally or for maintenance.

The casino offers slots, table games, and a William Hill sportsbook in a compact, casual setting. Affordable food and drink promotions are a major part of OYO's appeal, including late-night options, while a 24-hour fitness center and convenience shop cover practical needs. On-site parking is charged nightly, and guests should include the resort fee and deposit shown during booking when comparing rates.

OYO is best for budget gamblers, short stays, airport convenience, and travelers who intend to spend most of the day elsewhere. It is not ideal for a romantic luxury trip, a quiet retreat, or anyone sensitive to smoke and wear. Read recent room-specific reviews and compare the all-in price, since a modest rate advantage may not justify the compromises for every visitor.

  • Lower rates may come with simpler rooms, fewer on-site amenities, or a less convenient tourist location

Communication at this Las Vegas hotel was absolutely lacking. Upon arrival, the elevator was out of order, the sink was clogged, and no room service was available. We informed the housekeeping staff that our room was ready for cleaning and requested towels and water. Despite being out all day, our room was left untouched, and upon voicing our concerns, the manager offered no assistance. The hotel's customer service and communication are in dire need of improvement. I cannot recommend this establishment to anyone, as our stay was during a special occasion, and the state of the hotel was shocking. When trying to reach someone in higher authority, there was no knowledge of who that might be, and the manager seemed indifferent to our issues, showcasing poor leadership. The hotel was in a rundown condition, with smoke-filled halls and unappetizing food. Cleanliness was severely lacking, and I will definitely steer clear of this place in the future. The $300 deposit was outrageous, especially given that the AC was malfunctioning and remained unaddressed. It's true—you get what you pay for—and I will certainly not be returning. The food at a nearby Denny’s was significantly better. It's disappointing how both guests and staff are treated here; they simply do not care.

OYO in Las Vegas offers a great experience, even if the casino isn't the most modern. The staff is exceptional and provides excellent service. The gaming machines are decent, and there's a Dollar Blackjack table that adds to the fun. A special shoutout to casino host Tiffany Phillips for being truly outstanding and attentive. Contrary to some negative reviews I read, my experience was hassle-free, and the alarm never sounded during my stay. I traveled with my dog, and the entire staff was incredibly welcoming to him. The daytime bartender at the underground was particularly fantastic, even going out of her way to greet my dog. I'm definitely planning to return; everyone there is amazing.

I have stayed in many hotels, and I must say that my experience at this hotel was extremely disappointing. Despite being advertised as a budget-friendly option, I found it to be overpriced, especially considering the resort fee and the lack of amenities due to closures. The hotel itself is in desperate need of an update, with a dingy and outdated appearance. The casino, which you have to walk through to exit the hotel, was consistently filled with unsavory incidents such as fights, intoxicated individuals, and police activity. The smell of cigarettes permeated the entire property, including the supposedly non-smoking rooms, making it difficult to stay inside without feeling nauseous. Upon entering my room, I was greeted by a bloodstain on the floor, along with dust, grime, and hairs on the bed. It was clear that the room had not been properly cleaned, and the overall condition was unacceptable. Additionally, there were safety concerns, such as guests being stuck in the elevator and blocked stairwells, which raised red flags for me. When I requested clean towels, the front desk promised to bring them to my room, but I had to wait over two hours before finally receiving them. To make matters worse, I was informed that using a fridge and microwave in the room would incur an additional fee, which was yet another unexpected cost on top of the resort fee. Overall, I would strongly advise against staying at this hotel. Despite being in Vegas for a wedding and feeling limited in options, the poor quality of the accommodations was truly disappointing. I did not receive any satisfactory resolution from the hotel staff regarding the numerous issues I encountered during my stay. Save yourself the trouble and avoid this hotel at all costs. If I could give it zero stars, I would.
