Upon arriving at the MGM and leaving our car in the hands of the valet attendant, approximately an hour later we returned to collect our vehicle and go to a restaurant. To our shock, there was no valet attendant, yet our car was approximately 40 yards from the entrance, and, to our horror, the driver's side window was wide open and the keys were inside. While it would have been easy to take either the car or the Porsche SUV parked beside it, my moral conscience would not allow me to break the law, so I felt I had no other option put to "steal" back my personal car. At that moment, a valet attendant appeared and I informed them of the situation; that anyone could potentially have taken one of the vehicles which were unattended. The attendant glibly told me it was not her responsibility to monitor the cars, so I spoke to the valet manager, who did not appear to be particularly concerned. His rationale was that the two cars were just waiting to be parked. If MGM is going to provide a valet service, then it is absolutely essential that they provide a safe and secure experience for their customers, not an open point of theft opportunity.
