About 1923 Prohibition Bar

The original 1923 Prohibition Bar occupies level two of The Shoppes at Mandalay Place, on the indoor walkway between Mandalay Bay and Luxor. A bookcase entrance opens into a dim, comfortable room with vintage décor and plush seating. Earlier daytime hours are relatively relaxed; weekend entertainment shifts the room toward a livelier date-night and group atmosphere.

The drinks emphasize bourbon, rye and whiskey, supported by New Orleans classics and playful variations on the Old Fashioned. The menu ranges from a traditional Sazerac and barrel-aged Old Fashioned to maple-bacon, butter-pecan and other sweeter versions. Beer, wine and a nonalcoholic option provide alternatives, but whiskey remains the reason to choose this bar over a standard casino lounge.

NOLA Nights brings live music and burlesque on Friday and Saturday from 9 p.m. to midnight. A separate ticketed magic experience, Ghost Stories, is staged in an intimate hidden chamber on selected Friday-through-Sunday dates. The magic show is not included simply by entering the bar, and limited performances can sell out.

Walk-in seating is first come, first served, while table reservations and VIP packages are available. All guests must be 21 or older and carry valid photo identification. The Mandalay Place location opens earlier and operates seven days a week, making it more flexible than the Venetian branch for an afternoon drink.

Attended a show here and was blown away by the incredible vibe. I had no idea Las Vegas had a speakeasy! There's live piano music, and it's the perfect spot to dance. The dim lighting adds a romantic touch.

Excited to visit 1923 Prohibition Bar during my recent trip to Vegas, I was initially impressed by the decor and ambiance. As a fan of vintage 1920s-themed establishments, I thought this place would be a perfect fit for me. However, our experience was less than stellar due to the poor service we received. Our waitress seemed in no hurry to attend to us, even though the bar was not busy at the time. When we asked for some time to look over the menu, she responded with an eye-roll, which left our group feeling quite uncomfortable. Disappointed by the service, we decided to cut our visit short and left after just one drink. It's a shame because I had high hopes for this bar and was looking forward to enjoying our time there.

Located inside Mandalay Bay, 1923 Prohibition Bar can be a bit tricky to find if you're not familiar with the area. The security staff refers to it simply as the Prohibition Bar, so don't hesitate to use the full name when asking for directions. Once inside, we had a great time. The pianist was both talented and engaging, and we thoroughly enjoyed our drinks - the LA LA Land and Mickey's Mule. Our server was attentive and personable, contributing to the overall relaxed atmosphere of the bar. For a unique and enjoyable experience, we highly recommend a visit to 1923 Prohibition Bar.
