Lanai Express has been a go-to spot for me for years. While it may not quite match up to Panda Express in terms of taste, the food is always served hot and at a reasonable price. I have never been disappointed with a meal here. Today, I decided to grab an order of the orange chicken for less than $5, just as a snack. I usually love their $.99 shrimp cocktail, but today's experience left me wanting. The cup was filled mostly with cocktail sauce, with only a few shrimp and some chopped celery at the bottom. This was not the usual portion I am used to receiving, and it definitely bummed me out.

Service at Lanai Express is incredibly slow, with only one person working the counter and a line of 2-3 people usually waiting. The fried rice lacks flavor, and I believe it is missing shoyu. The sweet and sour pork and orange chicken were disappointing, as the orange chicken was hard. However, the shrimp cocktail was a standout item, despite being made with small shrimp. At only $1.99, it was the best part of the meal. I am hesitant to try anything else on the menu, as I don't want to waste my money on subpar food. I would recommend checking out other eateries in the Fremont area for better deals and tastier options.

Service is very slow! Just one person at the counter with usually a line of 2-3 people. The fried rice I think is missing shoyu and more flavoring. The sweet and sour pork not so great and the orange chicken was hard. I did love the shrimp cocktail even though they are a bunch of small shrimps in a cup. I was happy with that for $1.99! That was the best thing! I am afraid to try anything else! Did not want to waste my money it tasted junk! I can go around the corner to one of the other eateries in the Fremont for a great deal and yummy food!

First off the lady was friendly and her service was great! Unfortunately the food wasn’t the greatest. I love quick Chinese food. But the rice was bland, the noodles were bland as well. The beef and broccoli had weird hard chunks in it and my wife had orange chicken that was chewy and noticeably old. The shrimp cocktails tasted very old. I personally did like the teriyaki chicken until I bit into some nasty stuff in it. Wouldn’t go back but I’m glad it was cheap.

I have been dining at Lanai Express for years! It's not quite as tasty as Panda express but it's always served hot and it's reasonably priced. Have never had a bad meal here. Today we just got an order of orange chicken. Priced less then $5. We just really came in for a snack. We frequently get their $.99 shrimp cocktail. And that was all we planned on getting but what we got today definitely left us wanting. After I dumped out the half cup of just cocktail sauce, what was left was about 1/3 cup of shrimp still drowning in sauce with the bottom inch of the cup chopped celery. So much sauce and so little shrimp was not what I was used to here. Bummed me out!

Want to first say that the cashier was very nice and apologized for the quality of the food. That said, we ordered the two entree meal with teriyaki chicken & sweet and sour chicken along with fried rice. What we got was worse than high school lunchroom food. The fried rice was overly cooked and looked as though it my have come from a bag instead of being made fresh. The teriyaki chicken was dry and rubbery with an odd aftertaste. The sweet and sour chicken was maybe the least horrible but more bread and less chicken. Added a photo of what they gave us. Even drunk and having a super fun time I couldn't eat that.
