Golden Steer Steakhouse

Golden Steer is one of the defining old-school restaurants in Las Vegas. Founded in 1958, it grew from a small frontier-style dining room into a favorite of Strip headliners, performers and prominent visitors. Red leather booths, dark wood, framed photographs, white tablecloths and tuxedoed service preserve the sense of occasion, while booths named for familiar Las Vegas figures connect the dining room to the city’s entertainment history.

The menu remains intentionally classic. Filet mignon, New York strip, bone-in ribeye, prime rib and large steaks for two share the page with seafood, lamb chops, shrimp de Jonghe, escargots, Italian-American dishes and traditional steakhouse sides. The tableside Caesar salad is prepared for a minimum of two, and Bananas Foster or Cherries Jubilee can finish the meal with another tableside presentation.

Golden Steer is expensive, popular and best treated as the evening’s main event. Reserve well ahead for weekends and special dates, review the current cancellation policy, and follow the smart-casual dress guidance. Requests for a particular named booth are considered but not guaranteed. The restaurant is freestanding on West Sahara Avenue just west of Las Vegas Boulevard, so rideshare, taxi or a car is more practical than treating it as a casual walk from a center-Strip hotel.
