New Hard Rock Las Vegas Renderings Released

It's time to start saying goodbye to The Mirage and its iconic volcano, as Clark County officially approves the transformation.

Clark County has officially approved the transformation of The Mirage Volcano, and the centerpiece of the renovation will be a massive guitar-shaped hotel tower. While it may just appear to be a massively impressive sign, Hard Rock has announced plans for the tower to have 600 rooms and a 48,234-square-foot casino.

Although news of the guitar shaped tower has been swirling through the Las Vegas desert for many months, details of the design have just been made public. The tower will be an engineering marvel with a height of 660 feet and floor-to-ceiling glass panes. It will be designed to look like back-to-back guitars with lit strings and guitar faces. According to documents approved by Clark County Commissioners, this tower will be an architectural masterpiece that will change the skyline of the Strip.

The hotel tower will be so tall that it requires a waiver from the Federal Aviation Administration. The necessary forms have been filed, but final action cannot occur until the FAA has issued a valid Determination of No Hazard, and the Department of Aviation has reviewed the determination.

The hotel's design will feature an exterior composed of a glazed aluminum window wall system and aluminum composite panels. The structure will include 36 levels with occupied rooms within the tower, which will rise above a 105-foot base structure, reaching a height of 660 feet to mimic the neck of a guitar. The plan also includes a proposal for more than 4,500 additional parking spaces and multiple pedestrian bridges over existing driveways on the property.

I don’t know why but I think this is almost an eyesore. Just doesn’t fit in.
