The performance by Gordie Brown at the Golden Nugget was fantastic. It's disappointing that this will be his last year performing there. The show had us laughing hysterically and it's clear that Brown is incredibly talented.
Having grown up in Hawaii and now living on the "9th Island," I have been lucky enough to enjoy some amazing local cuisine. Aloha Specialties first caught my attention back in the late 90s during my initial trip to Las Vegas. It was a delightful experience as I had been craving some good local Hawaiian food after being away from the islands for so long due to my military service. During a trip to Las Vegas in 2011 with my family to meet up with my parents, we revisited Aloha Specialties, which became a memorable visit for all of us. The restaurant holds a special place in our hearts and we still make it a point to dine there occasionally, often requesting the same back corner booth where we sat during our first visit. The service at Aloha Specialties has always been exceptional, with attentive staff even during busy times. The portion sizes at this restaurant are impressive, particularly the generous amount of rice served with each dish. I also appreciate their support for the Armed Forces and Veterans. While I have tried a vast majority of the menu items over the years, a few favorites in our family include the Mix Plate, Local Plate, Aloha Bento, Korean Spicy Chicken, Saimin, and Wonton Min. My wife especially loves the Korean Spicy Chicken, ranking it as one of her top chicken dishes ever. With my retirement bringing me back to Las Vegas in 2014, I have become a regular at Aloha Specialties and am always pleased with the food and service. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Las Vegas, especially those from the 9th Island community or anyone looking for delicious Hawaiian cuisine.
The Midway in Las Vegas has recently come under new ownership, with over $60 million in renovations to bring back the magic. With a variety of new games and state-of-the-art technology, it's a great spot for family fun. Highly recommended and definitely a highlight of our trip.
