The free-range fried chicken at The Crack Shack in Las Vegas is excellent. We ordered the Half Chicken (5 pieces) and regular Fries, both of which were delicious. The chicken is thickly battered and flavorful, with a moist interior and crunchy exterior. The self-serve sauce options are a nice touch. Service during our past visits has always been great.
The Mirage in Las Vegas is a solid hotel option in the area. The staff member at the reception desk was very helpful in accommodating our room request with a view overlooking the street, which was appreciated. However, upon entering the room, we noticed there was hair in various places suggesting it may not have been cleaned thoroughly. The following morning, the cleaning staff did a much better job. The casino on site is quite large and offers a wide variety of games to choose from. Additionally, the restaurants inside serve delicious food.
My experience at SUSHISAMBA in Las Vegas was pretty good overall. The menu had a wide variety of options to choose from and the food was tasty and fresh. However, the service was lacking as it was quite slow and we had to ask for things multiple times. Despite this, I highly recommend trying the skewers on the menu.
The Spa at ARIA is a beautiful and well-maintained facility. However, there are a couple of drawbacks worth mentioning. First, if you opt for an "add on" service during your massage, be aware that it may not actually add extra time to your treatment. For example, a collagen facial added to a massage resulted in just a face sheet being applied, rather than extended time for the service. Similarly, a scalp treatment used up massage time rather than adding additional minutes. Additionally, the spa's atmosphere may not be conducive to a peaceful and relaxing experience, especially during the afternoon hours. The presence of a day club downstairs can lead to vibrations from the bass, overwhelming DJ music in the bath section, and an infinity pool overlooking the day club. The music, often featuring explicit lyrics, can make it feel more like a spring break vacation than a spa retreat. Despite these issues, the staff at the spa are friendly and accommodating. For a quieter experience, one may consider visiting the salon, where the ambiance is much more serene. Overall, while the spa and salon services are lovely, it is advisable to schedule appointments during quieter times to avoid the distractions from the day club downstairs.
Our recent dining experience at Wing Lei in Las Vegas was a mixed one. We tried a variety of dishes such as Duck Salad, Peking Duck, Steamed Egg with Truffle, Wok Fried Scallops, and Three Cup Sea Bass. The Duck Salad, Peking Duck, and Steamed Egg with Truffle were delightful and lived up to our expectations. However, we were a bit disappointed with the seafood dishes. The Wok Fried Scallops were too salty, with an overpowering ammonia taste. The Three Cup Sea Bass had a strong ammonia flavor that made it difficult to enjoy beyond the first bite. Upon notifying our server about the sea bass issue, they promptly took care of it, not charging us for the dish and even offering complimentary pineapple cake treats as a kind gesture. While we appreciated the attentive service in addressing our concerns, the seafood quality at Wing Lei raised some doubts. We would recommend sticking to the duck dishes, which were the standout items of our meal.
