Parasol Down is a really nice bar to enjoy a martini if you are staying at or passing through Wynn. If you're looking for a cheap buzz then go somewhere else, but if you appreciate a delicious handcrafted cocktail, then Parasol Down won't let you "down".
A real treat that we didn't discover until our last couple of days in Vegas. The Hollywood Cars Museum has an awesome selection of cars and is large enough that you're not dodging other visitors like a lot of Vegas attractions. Travis and the whole staff was excellent and I will be coming back again in the future to take a closer look at our time was a bit rushed due to other commitments.
Although I usually stay at The Venetian or Palazzo due to comps, it's hard to give Wynn anything less than 5 stars. While most other casinos on the strip feel a little gimmicky and quirky, Wynn is one of the few that is pure class through and through. I have stayed here 3 times and the rooms are fabulous. Along with world-class restaurants and shopping, Wynn is the epitome of elegance.
Delmonico is supposed to be an upscale steakhouse at The Venetian, but the service and atmosphere is lacking. The drinks and sides were five stars, but the steak was a bit chewy and not worth the very high prices they charge.
You can't go wrong with Hash House A Go Go. They serve breakfast anytime and the portions are large enough for at least two people to share. We make it a point to visit Hash House everytime we are in Vegas and they have never let us down.
Casanova is a delicious little Italian spot located in the Grand Canal Shops at the Venetian. We ordered the meatball appetizer and veal marsala, and both plates were delicious. The staff is professional but also friendly and creates a very welcoming atmosphere from the moment you enter. I am guessing we will be back soon.
SW Steakhosue at Wynn is one of the few stops we are sure to make on every Las Vegas visit. The atmosphere is world-class and the service is no less. While my wife is not a vegetarian, she does not eat a lot of meat and enjoys the very unique vegan options they have available. Personally, I am a steak guy and have never had a single complaint of any of the steaks on the menu. They are always cooked to perfection.
We usually stay at The Venetian or Palazzo, but always make our way over to Wynn and Encore. Both resorts are beautiful and the Lobby Bar is a great place to relax and take in the sights. I have been here three times and never had a bad experience with service or drinks.
I have been to Venice and the gondola rides at The Venetian really made me feel like I was right back there. Our gondolier was actually from Italy and sang a few beautiful songs in perfect Italian. The gondola rides are a touch pricey, but not bad when compared to every other activity in Las Vegas.
If you've never been here, then it's worth a visit, but I don't think it's a place I would be coming to consistently. They do a fantastic job with the wax sculptures, but after seeing a handful of them, I'm ready to go. Personally, I would give it 3 stars, but my wife loves it and would probably give it five stars.
We stopped in here for a quick lunch while walking through Wynn and had a good time, but not great. The Reuben and Nashville chicken were very good, but the Caesar salad left something to be desired. The service was good but it's still a very pricey restaurant for what you get overall.
Durango Hills was a great location for someone like me. I'm still new to golfing and this is a shorter course because most holes are par 3 with a few 4s. The staff is nice and the prices are affordable. Maybe we just came on the right day, but the players were well spaced and I never had to wait or feel rushed. I will certainly be back.
The Venetian and Palazzo are about the only places we will stay in Vegas. The rooms are very large, always clean, and the furnishings are gorgeous. There is plenty of shopping for the wife in the Grand Canal Shops and an even larger mall across the street. The casino has a lot of variety in gaming denominations. The tables have slightly higher limits than a lot of the smaller casinos, but they are still not as high as Wynn and Encore. One downside to both properties is the lack of fridge in the rooms. They have mini-fridge, but it's already stocked and you will be charged $150 if you use it for personal use. I don't know if it's true, but supposedly they have sensors in the fridge so they know if you actually use it. We always run by CVS when we are in town to grab a cheap disposable cooler and keep all our drinks in there. The location of The Venetian and Palazzo is also excellent. You are within walking distance of Wynn, Encore, and now Resorts World. The crowds on the Strip are not as big as a lot of other places either because you are a ways away from Bellagio and the center of everything.
My wife and I were both very impressed with this Van Gogh experience. We sat through the cycle of art three different times and left feeling relaxed and intrigued. I have been to several art museums and appreciate the mastery of Van Gogh, but the experience of being surrounded by the art brings a whole new feeling of appreciation.
The NASCAR Cup series returns in October for the playoffs with the South Point 400.
