The Shag Room at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas offers a nod to the infamous Studio 54 with a decor that is red and purple, with velvet draped everywhere. And a purple shag rug, of course. There are semi-private booths, with velvet curtains, which can be closed. But, sorry, no shagging allowed. A conversation pit is in the center of the room, where entertainment is offered occasionally. Every Wednesday is open mic night, so bring family and friends to cheer you on if you are a musician or vocalist. There’s a winner each week, and the quarterly winner will receive a paid gig! The cocktails are crafted and cool, just as you would expect in such a shagalicious place.

What I Liked Most

What I Disliked

My friend and I had the upside down tea here yesterday and it definitely was not an 'experience.' I thought the tea would be warm (it is not). Instead, it's quite literally just a cocktail thrown into a tea cup. I knew it had alcohol of course, but warm tea would have been preferable. The light bites they offer are rather sad, too. Nothing special about them. It should have cost $35 instead of $50, honestly. The room was quite empty, so having the live music was kind of inconvenient given the atmosphere at the time. I love a good afternoon tea session, but your money is better off on an actual tea experience at the Waldorf, and not whatever this was.
