My experience at the Plaza Hotel fell short of expectations. Arriving a few hours ahead of the check-in time, I wanted to leave my small suitcase at the bell desk, but no one was present for quite a while—the staff member was out of sight in the back. When he eventually emerged, he immediately complained about the luggage handle being up, declaring, "I won't take it if the handle's up." Really? When it came to check-in, the person at the front desk seemed unhappy and was reluctant to assist any guests. As for the room, it was fairly spacious but quite unremarkable. The bathroom, however, was surprisingly cramped and dimly lit. The walls were so thin that I could hear noise from the adjacent room clearly. On the day of my departure, I once more left my bag at the bell desk for a few hours. The woman there was courteous, but upon my return, more waiting ensued. The man who finally brought my bag started out amiably but then blatantly requested a tip. I gave him a dollar and expressed my thanks, but he shot me a displeased look and left. It was entirely unprofessional.

On my recent trip to downtown Las Vegas, I had my first encounter with the Plaza Casino. Though I didn't stay overnight, I spent a while exploring the lively and energetic casino floor, which was very easy to get around. My attempt to use the rewards desk was somewhat disappointing—it was closed, with a sign directing patrons to a nearby casino office that had just a single employee and a slow-moving line. Fortunately, I found a nearby kiosk that allowed me to print a rewards card effortlessly, but I missed the chance to interact with staff directly. A standout feature of the Plaza is its access to excellent dining options. Having Pinkbox Doughnuts and Hash House A Go-Go right on site is a definite advantage. Although the food court was relatively quiet when I visited, there was plenty of seating available, which was perfect for enjoying a quick Pinkbox treat. While I haven’t considered staying overnight at the Plaza, the casino itself offers a pleasant experience for spending some time. The overall vibe and convenient location make it an appealing choice for those seeking a fun casino adventure downtown with fantastic food choices. The Plaza is certainly worth a visit!

The cocktail service while playing games was disappointing, as waitresses rarely stopped by. I ended up having to go to the bar myself and was shocked to be charged $4.50 for a soda. Dining at Oscar's restaurant was frustrating due to the waiter's inability to handle a simple request to separate our bills, which significantly delayed settling up after our meal. On the plus side, the food was excellent. We were upgraded to the penthouse suite, which was a pleasant surprise, but it lacked a microwave and offered limited amenities.

The room was spacious with a comfortable bed and an excellent shower. It included a cozy lounging chair, though there was only one in a room meant for two people. The casino floor was clean and inviting, and the Carousel Bar outside was fantastic. Breakfast at Hash House A Go Go was delightful and conveniently located near our room. The pool, although small, offered a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. Some loungers are shaded, allowing you to stay out of the sun if you prefer. Despite its size, it was the most enjoyable pool I've visited in Vegas because of this feature. In summary, if planning a stay near Fremont Street again, this hotel would be a top choice for its amenities, comfortable rooms, and ideal location.
