You can’t find a better glimpse of classic sin city than the El Cortez Hotel in downtown Las Vegas.
The El Cortez Las Vegas boasts the longest continually operating casino in town. Opening its doors for the first time in 1941, it was once owned by the famous Bugsy Siegel and Meyer Lansky during Vegas’ infamous rat pack era, before the rise of the strip we know today. But the El Cortez is not resting on its laurels. The hotel has combined the modern levels of service and comfort with its historic downtown location to provide an authentic Vegas experience. The El Cortez knows that, while amenities are important, gaming is still the lifeblood of Las Vegas, and it prides itself on its casino. The slots here are 40% looser than those on the strip, and you can find them aplenty at the El Cortez, along with a wide variety of table games, and a full sports book offering groundbreaking wagering technology. But the Hotel does not rely completely on its highly recognized gaming venue at the expense of other offerings. Siegel’s 1941 brings back old-school cool in a classy establishment reminiscent of pre-neon Vegas. The Parlour Bar offers well-crafted cocktails in a place where everybody knows your name.
Booking on the El Cortez website typically offers the best rates and ensures your reservation is being handled directly by the hotel.

Great location in downtown Las Vegas with easy access to Container Park, nightclub, and Fremont Street. The atmosphere inside El Cortez is top-notch, and the cocktail waitresses are friendly and attentive. There are plenty of fun machines to enjoy. The cabana rooms are beautiful and cozy, making for a fantastic stay. Can't wait to come back to stay and play again!

El Cortez in Las Vegas is a solid choice for a reasonable price. The Cabana suites were cozy and well-maintained, with comfortable beds and a clean environment. The only downside was the weak water pressure in the showers. The hotel provides wristbands for secure access to the suite building and rooms, adding a unique touch to the experience. The elevator was a bit slow and dated, but functional for getting to higher floors. The small, inviting casino was a highlight, offering a less crowded atmosphere compared to other locations on Fremont Street. Guests can enjoy complimentary drinks while gambling, and receive a coupon book with discounts for slots, blackjack, and the restaurant. Overall, El Cortez provides a pleasant stay with some nice perks.

El Cortez in Las Vegas is a great spot for gaming enthusiasts! The security measures are impressive, guaranteeing a safe and enjoyable time. Although wins may not be frequent, the lively atmosphere and a wide variety of games keep the excitement going. Additionally, the fantastic restaurant and excellent barber shop upstairs are nice perks. Overall, it's a must-visit destination when downtown!

I was extremely eager to experience the charm of the Original 47 rooms at El Cortez and decided to upgrade to a suite. Upon entering the room, I noticed a noticeable layer of dust on the tables and drink rings, which I initially attributed to the age of the hotel. Unfortunately, the cleanliness of the room continued to deteriorate. The bed was unmade and covered in hair, the bathroom was dirty, and the vanity surfaces were grimy with dirt and hair. The condition of the floor was also disappointing. When I brought my concerns to the front desk, I was met with a lack of understanding and was told that someone had supposedly been sent to clean the room multiple times with no results. I did receive a refund for the amenity fee, which was a kind gesture, but I was left wishing for a fully refunded room or a cleaner space to stay in. I would recommend visiting El Cortez to see the charming lobby, but I would suggest staying elsewhere if you are looking for a cleaner accommodation without feeling grossed out.

We were at El Cortez yesterday & planned on making this casino our go to on Freemont because it's a little away from the hustle & bustle. We waited 45 minutes & got no service,we asked 2 bartenders & about 20 minutes later we got a very unhappy waitress who brought us drinks. We'd only dropped about $300 & left. They had the older machines we like & we're bummed because my husband really liked this casino. We come to Vegas about 3 times a year & spend way too much & we love it & we don't ask for much (just a couple drinks) , we're very friendly & tip well. If you don't drink you'd probably like this casino.

Great atmosphere reminiscent of the good old casino days. Played video poker, great that they still using the quarter machines the sound of coin drops is fantastic. Had the prime rib dinner special and it came out perfect. Really enjoyed this relic of a casino and will return.
