The STRAT Thrill Rides

We decided to visit The STRAT for a birthday adventure, hoping for some excitement. The parking fee was $20, and we opted for self-parking, navigating through the casino to reach the ticket counter. Initially, it seemed like the rides weren't operating. Upon inquiry, we learned they wouldn't open until 2:30 PM. After purchasing our tickets and an unlimited ride wristband, we joined the line for the elevator, which was only running one car to the top, accommodating 10 people at a time. Once we reached the top, the panoramic views were breathtaking, showcasing the entire city. As someone uneasy with heights, I found it a bit intimidating. We spent some time observing others brave the bungee jump. There’s a bar and a snack shop offering delicious ice cream up there too. At 2:30 PM, we climbed to the next level to explore the rides. We queued for the roller coaster but were informed it wasn’t operational due to staffing issues, with a potential start time of 4 PM. Meanwhile, my kid eagerly joined the line for the ride that rockets you skyward, which delivered quite the thrill. We checked the status of the other attractions, only to find the roller coaster still unattended and the spinning ride closed due to missing parts. Despite purchasing unlimited access, we only experienced one ride. We lingered a while longer to enjoy the spectacular views before heading back down. While it was somewhat disappointing, the vistas alone made the visit worthwhile. Just be sure to confirm ride availability when buying your tickets.

During our recent stay at The STRAT Hotel, we had the opportunity to experience their thrilling rides, including the observation deck on the 108th floor. We tried all of the rides, except for the virtual wired run down the building - they definitely get your heart racing! While I'm not sure if I could handle them again, it was a frighteningly fun experience. Overall, we had a great time during our stay at The STRAT.

I have never experienced such thrilling and terrifying rides before in my life. The theme park is definitely worth the cost. We opted for the unlimited rides pass and started with the spinning ride, then the seesaw, and finally the slingshot. The seesaw ride was particularly amazing, providing a perfect mix of fear and adrenaline. I highly recommend trying to snag a front seat for this one. The views from up there are truly spectacular and add even more value to the admission price.

As a roller coaster enthusiast and thrill rider, I have to say that The STRAT thrill rides left something to be desired. Insanity was not worth it unless you enjoy spinning rides, X-scream was only worth it if you’re on the outside or in the first row, and Big Shot, while the best of the three, felt like any other big drop ride at a major park just with the added bonus of being 1,000 feet in the air. The $30 for one ride may not be worth it for everyone. I opted for the unlimited pass and found myself riding Big Shot 10 times in a row, as it was the most thrilling option for me. Overall, it was a fun bucket list item to check off, but I didn't find the rides to be as exhilarating as I had hoped.
